What Kind of City is St. Louis?

I am thinking about going to college in St. Louis to get away from Mississippi, im looking for something different and refreshing and wonder if St. Louis would be a nice place to go to school and if there would be plenty of things to do for entertainment

Well, it will be different. You will have a long drive to see the ocean and you will have to invest in a winter coat and snow boots. Actually St Louis is a great place for college students. There are a lot of free or inexpensive things to do and we have major league football, baseball and hockey. You will find some of the laid back southern attitude mixed with a little bit of big city. The city is getting more diverse and the housing is very affordable and in any style that you would like. If you like the urban feel of walking and biking and using public transportation, I'd suggest moving to the city. However, there are good parts and bad parts of the city to live in. Before you choose a place to live check out the crime stats on the St Louis police department web site by zip code. Like any big city, we do have some crime but it is mainly contained in certain areas which are easy to avoid. I have worked with college interns for many years including international students and have found few that didn't enjoy their St Louis experience. Most were very surprised by how friendly most people were and how much we had to offer.

also its the capital of crime in the U.S.

and it has brutially cold winters (can go into negitive numbers but usally around 0 to -5), bruitaly hot summers (always goes over 100 but can go up to 105)

also games like in the winter theres blues and rams games (blues= hockey, rams=football)

and spring cardinals games(baseball) 2006 WORLD SERIES CHAMPION!!!!!!

and hopefully 2011 champion

yeah it very diverse especially downtown and towards the city at night time there are alot of people there are about 3 good malls around the areeaas lots of movie theaters and lots of entertainment.its a pretty busy city at niggt close to downtown.

Its nice in some parts, and bad in others. Big baseball and football town. humid summer, cold winter. Entertainment is all around, six flags, bowling, golf, fishing, ect...
