Question:
What should I do in St. Louis?
2008-01-19 23:24:28 UTC
I'm going to St. Louis, MO in April for Spring Break. I've got a few ideas of what I want to do such as go to the Cardinals Baseball Game and go to the Gateway Arch or something like that. I'll be there for 2 days, so is there much more I could do? And please, leave good restaurants. I'm 12, so if there is anything for 12 year olds, that would be great. I'm very adventurous and love having fun. So feel free to put it down. It will be my first time in St. Louis, so I'm really excited!

1. You would enjoy the Magic House, I am sure. Here is a link:

http://www.magichouse.org/ This Children's Museum is a place for exploration, discovery, experiencing, pretending, creating, & constructing. It provides a hands-on learning experiences designed for fun, stimulation, and creativity. $6.50 Regular Admission and free parking.

2. I LOVE Grant's Farm! It's a 281 acre wildlife preserve just south of the city limits in St. Louis County. Anheuser-Busch owns it, & it takes its name from Ulysses S. Grant who actually farmed a portion of the 281 acres in the 1850's. Today it is home to the Busch family estate, the Clydesdale Stables, the Deer Park, Grant's Cabin, & a petting zoo. Admission FREE but paid parking.

3. The Science Center is near the zoo. Using science and technology, this center hopes that visitors will gain a better understanding of self & the world around them while having a great time doing it. The center includes OMNIMAX THEATER, PLANETARIUM, BOEING SPACE STATION, ORTHWEIN STARBAY, and EXPLORADOME. Admission is free.

4. Not too far from St. Louis (about 30 miles), is 6-flags over mid-America. It's always well maintained. The lines for the rides can get a bit long, but .... They do have a few roller coasters for the coaster enthusiasts---an old wooden one called the sceaming Eagle; a water one that causes a huge splash; and at least 3 other ones--the Mine Train, the Batman swing type, and the Ninja. Other rides include Thunder River, the Carousel, a huge Ferris wheel, the regular train, plus some rides I can't remember the name of. It's a rather large park. It also has the shows and restaurants that all big parks have. A fun way to spend the day.

5. The City Museum is one of St. Louis' most interesting attractions. Local artists have taken recycled materials to create a museum out of the old Brown Shoe factory. The museum is more of a gigantic playground with slides and tunnels going every direction. Some tunnels even run underneath the floor. It's a total blast. I lived in a St. Louis suburb (Clayton) for a bit and there are definitely a lot of really awesome things to do there. Clayton is a cool place too with restaurants and shopping and such... but it's basically a suburb so it's like a town.

As you've seen, the City Museum has been mentioned. It's a really awesome place, and something a whole family can love. There is this really cool outdoor structure that you can climb on and explore. Inside, there's a lot of really cool activities. It's just a really awesome place.

Something you've also heard about is the Science Center. That place is really awesome well. It's very interactive, and you can really learn about a lot of cool things.

Forest park is also really cool. The St. Louis zoo has a lot of great animals. There's also the art museum (for something more serious), and a boathouse. The boathouse has a place where you can rent paddle boats. You can go boating and eat lunch and really have a fun time. I'm not sure if the paddle boats will be out though, so if you want to do that you'd have to double check.

Try checking out the loop, or university city. They have this awesome restaurant called Blueberry Hill. It has a rockish feel, and has really good burgers, fries, etc. It's a really cool place. The loop also has stores and beading places and a lot of different things that I bet your family would like.

If you want something to do outdoors, try the Botanical Garden. It's really beautiful and would be an awesome place to go to on a good day.

Six flags and the magic house are also really cool places. SIx flags is a drive though.

When you're there, make sure you have toasted ravioli. It's a St. Louis specialty and is definitely very delicious.

It's good you are seeing the arch and a cardinals game... those are by far very important St. Louis features.

OH and go to Ted Drews. They have AMAZING custard and concretes.... its by far one of the best custard places I've been to and a St. Louis treat.

I saw before that someone mentioned Imos. Imos has pretty good pizza... but not everyone likes it. It's a different taste, but it is something that you'd have to try in order to figure out if you like it or not. So I'd go there if you're willing to try something different.

The Hill has a lot of good restaurants and italian food. Here's a link: http://www.diningstl.com/TheHill.htm so maybe check that out.

I hope this helps and have an awesome time!

There are lots of fun things to do in St. Louis but not all the attractions are open in April. You need to check with both Six Flags and Grants Farm because they usually aren't in full swing this early in the year. The Science Center will keep you busy for hours, City Museum is a blast and The zoo is one of the best in the nation. You have to take a trip up in the Arch and see a Cardinals game if they are in town during your stay. If you are looking for good places to eat a lot depends on what you like. Amighettis bakery up on the hill as great Italian sandwiches plus there are a lot of other restaurants in that neighborhood that serve great pasta and toasted ravioli. Try Imos thin crust St. Louis pizza with provel cheese on it. Ted Drews has the thickest shakes called Concretes and is located on Chippewa in South City. There is a Japanese restaurant on Lindberg at Baptist Church Road in South County that cooks all the food in front of you and the chefs put on a great show. Try Banderas Barbecue for some great St. Louis style ribs. Hope you have fun on your visit.

The Science Center and City Museum are really fun, so definitely check those out! Take a walk on the river after you get up the Arch, shop at Union Station, and grab some lunch somewhere in the Central West End.

Stop in Chicago first, get a Pizza, Italian Beef and Sausage, then go to St. Louis. It has the worst Pizza!! Try to get Pork chops and Eggs at 2AM!! The City is broke, the jobs are gone, and because they get some Lofts built, they call that improvement??? People have moved so far away its funny!

i've got lived in St. Louis my entire existence... no person says St. Louie, except you're from out of city, of direction. that is how we spot the travelers. So, no, St. Louie isn't used around right here -- that is blasphemy.

The Spaghetti Factory is a good place. It is a neat place and also relatively inexpensive.
